Software Engineer/Software
Engineer Trainee
Applibase is seeking software engineers for its Bangalore office.
Applibase is a software startup that builds products for distributed
Internet applications and tools for application development, primarily
using the Java platform. This is an opportunity for creative software
developers to contribute to the development of innovative software
products for the worldwide market. If you feel you have the potential
to be a great software developer, and create great software products,
this could be the right job for you.
Position
Multiple openings exist for entry-level software engineers and software
engineer trainees to work on the development of Applibase products.
These engineers will be quickly trained in the essential technologies
and methodologies, and expected to contribute to product development in
a short time.
Candidates without any industry experience will start as software
engineer trainees for a period of six months. All candidates must take
a written test and qualify before they will be called for for an
interview.
Salaries will be competitive, commensurate with skills, knowledge and
experience.
Qualifications
Applicants require a college degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer
Science, or other Engineering fields with exposure to computers and
software programming. Candidates are expected to have some knowledge of
computers and computer languages. Candidates must have a good command
of English, as well as good communication skills both in writing and
speaking.
Experience with any or all of the following would be desirable: Java
programming, relational databases, Internet software and applications,
asynchronous messaging, XML and web services.
Job Description
These open positions are for Applibase software product development in
Bangalore. After an initial period of training on the key technologies
and tools used in Applibase products, software engineers will undertake
a number of product development responsibilities. Software engineers
will be required to quickly master a broad range of technologies, which
would include Java, XML, messaging, web services, and relational
databases. Development will be primarily in Java, and will require the
use of a number of development tools and libraries supporting the Java
platform.
Software engineers will specify, design, develop, test and maintain
software components, modules and sub-systems of Applibase products, as
well as help customers understand and use the products they are
developing. They will work under direct supervision and be expected to
deliver quality work in every aspect of software development. Software
engineers will need to learn whatever technology or tool is required to
get the job done.
Software engineers will be required to use their communication skills
to present, document, and help customers use the products they are
developing. They will also use these skills in communicating with other
engineers and knowledge sharing within the company. Engineers need to
listen to customers, industry experts, and other engineers, and form
independent judgements on the best course of action. A key
responsibility of engineers at Applibase will be to take responsibility
for their work, and think independently about what needs to be done
rather than wait to be told what to do. Engineers will be judged on the
overall value and quality of their work, and not on just doing what
they're asked to do.
Software engineers will be required to participate in product planning,
and deliver on the plans they commit to undertake. At Applibase,
engineers are expected to understand how their work impacts and
benefits customers, as well as use that understanding in planning and
prioritizing their work. Engineers will get the opportunity to use
their creative skills not just in implementing plans, but also in
making judgements on what needs to be be done for the benefit of
customers.
